Letters to a Dead Friend about Zen succeeds on two levels. On one level it serves as a great introduction to Zen Buddhism for someone who is new to the subject. On another level, for long time readers of Brad's books it works as a synthesis and expansion of concepts that he has deals with elsewhere.
This is his best book to date. This book is a great way for Brad to write a book on the basics of Zen without feeling like he is covering the same ground that many others have. “Letters to a Dead Friend about Zen” is a series of essays written as letters to Brad’s recently deceased friend explaining to said friend all about a huge part of Brad’s life that had been.
